BF6 Players Agree: Challenges Are Overly Demanding
The release of the highly anticipated Battlefield 6 garnered broad praise, especially for its premier multiplayer mode. On Steam alone, concurrent player counts reached a high of nearly 750,000. Nevertheless, despite its popularity, many players are expressing frustration over some of the game's toughest challenges, which are required to access certain guns.
Users have commenced resorting to tailored sessions made via the custom game tool to achieve these objectives, underscoring just how grueling these assignments have become.
Understanding Battlefield 6 Assignments
Tasks represent Battlefield 6's fixed in-game challenges, as opposed to the regularly refreshed daily and weekly challenges. The game includes four types of assignments, but although many only reward cosmetics and some tools, achieving the firearm tasks is the sole method of getting twelve from the forty-one key firearms available in the game.
Some of these gated guns may soon earn a place on rankings for the best guns in Battlefield 6.
Player Outcry on Reddit
Over on Reddit, players are reasonably voicing their concerns about how challenging and repetitive some of these challenges are. An individual player highlighted one of the most extreme examples, required to unlock the KTS100 MK8 LMG:
- Subdue 300 opponents with LMGs
- Inflict 10,000 hipfire damage with LMGs
"This task is so atrocious and entirely ill-conceived, I want to tear my hair out," is a statement that captures just how frustratingly difficult these tasks are.
The suppression feature in the game is more diminished than before in the series, so it lacks nearly as many positive effects in fights as it used to in previous games. It only registers as suppression if you fire a burst without hitting the target.
Meanwhile, hipfiring an LMG is extremely unreliable and is effective only at extremely close range, which is seldom the location you prefer to be. The commenter also pointed out the paradox in the SMG challenge, needed to obtain the SCW-10, which requires kills while aiming down the sights, when that challenge would be considerably more fitting to hipfire kills, and conversely.
Another Overly Demanding Task
Another Reddit user pointed out another ridiculously tough challenge, now in the sniper rifle category to unlock the PSR:
- Get 150 headshot kills over 200m with marksman guns
This is tough enough as it is, but there's another important point to consider: many Battlefield 6 maps don't even support combat at such a long range.
There is a decent selection of map sizes, but because there are just nine levels in the game at present, it implies you must stick to playing New Sobek City, Mirak Valley, and possibly a classic map in a best-case scenario if you plan to engage from afar from over 200m away.
The Workaround
Nevertheless, a method exists: the custom game tool. The Battlefield Portal is a system that permits you to design tailored experiences on whatever map you choose, complete with bots. This allows you can bypass the intended method… but it doesn't exactly feel like the developer's vision.
However, when tackling the tasks in a normal session appears to work against fun, since you must engage in such an unorthodox manner that offers no advantage to anyone, is it surprising for finishing these in a private match so teammates aren't hindered?
Potential Changes
It won't come as a surprise if a number of these missions are made easier in the coming days or weeks, because if they're not, some players simply won't get their hands on the restricted guns.
For now, the player base continues to share their thoughts on these strenuous battlefield assignments, hoping for a more balanced gaming experience in subsequent patches.
